On behalf of the Board, let me say thank you all for welcoming your new officers to the Board of the Baltimore Chapter of the Maryland Writers Association. We are currently setting up our agenda for the year, including scheduling speakers, and working out the details for the Baltimore Book Festival. As things develop, we will keep you posted through this site, as well as through the e-mail announcements for each meeting that come out every month. We are looking forward to working with you through this year and can’t wait to meet more of you in person.
MWA Baltimore 
We had an interesting meeting in July. Gary Lester gave a presentation called from Blog to Book. He and our MWA president Paul have been writing science fiction stories on their blog Channel-37.net. A group of those stories were chosen to be published in book form by Grey Rock. Congratulations guys! Gary presented lots of interesting information on trolls, length and format , 900 – 1100 words, hooks, copyright, consistency, changes in publishing,

Upcoming deadline — August 16, 2013 Memoir Journal A prize of $500 is given twice yearly for a memoir in the form of poetry or essay. The website is http://www.memoirjournal.com. There is no entry fee.
The Baltimore Review is now accepting submissions again. They publish poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction. Check out the submission guidelines at http://www.baltimorereview.org
Starting September 1st, Willow Springs will be accepting submissions once again. They are a nice publication that accepts prose and poetry. http://www.willowsprings.ewu.edu/submit.php
